Nice suggestion Charles.

So very true. Attending the charity events for the sole purpose of selling your services would most likely insult the organizers and those donating their time and efforts to the cause.

I agree that whatever “organization” you join, should be something you really enjoy or have an interest in.
In addition to charities, associations like the local Garden Club or your neighborhood watch are fun & a great way to meet people. Volunteer to fill a secretarial or treasurer position, so members come to view you as an effective & reliable member. Your sphere of influence will increase because people will have a comfort level with your abilities.

It is so important that you care about the organization that you join. If not everyone will be able to tell that you are only there to get business.

Actually, one of the best new advertising venues in my area is “All Over Media”. A catchy ad placed in high traffic has broght pretty good results with little money…
